Grumpy’s Brewhaus
Grumpy’s Brewhaus is the first all-grain boutique micro-brewery in the Adelaide Hills. We are dedicated to the pursuit of excellence and increased enjoyment in beer and have been operating over eleven years.
Grumpy’s changes the beers on tap (5 plus a contract brewed Cider ) to suit the season.
You will find Stout, Porter, Bitters and European Lagers on Tap depending on the season.
Andrew Schultz is the Proprietor and Brewer and he is sure that there’ll be a beer that suits you.
We are at the gateway to the Onkaparinga tourist drive at VERDUN next to historic HAHNDORF in the picturesque Adelaide Hills of South Australia. Only a short 15 minute drive up the South Eastern freeway from the city of Adelaide, just take the Hahndorf freeway exit and turn left toward VERDUN, then pull into our driveway!
Grumpy’s beers are made on site using the finest imported malts and hops. We use only spring water from Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills and all beers are made by hand in 1200 litre batches. No additives in the way of preservatives are used.
Each batch uses about 250 kilos of malted barley and specialty grains. Depending on the style of beer we may use honey or sugar in small quantities (usually around 9% honey or up to 6% sugar ) to produce a particular flavour or dryness in a particular beer.
Grumpy’s is also famous for it’s Wood Oven Pizza, a perfect marriage with the beers sold.
